"Librarians love good readers..."

From Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley, and me, Elizabeth by E.L. Konigsburg (a marvelous book which I somehow missed in childhood despite having loved others by Konigsburg):

So it happened that we got to meeting in the library every Saturday morning "at 10:00 a.m. o'clock of the morning," as Jennifer said. We'd check out our books. I usually took out one book besides renewing The Black Book of Witchcraft. Jennifer always took out seven books. I could tell that the librarian liked Jennifer even though Jennifer never said "hello" or "good-bye" or "please" or "thank you." Librarians love good readers, and Jennifer was that. In fact, Jennifer wasn't just a good reader, Jennifer was a serious reader.

Here's hoping that the librarians at my local branch feel the same way about me despite my penchant for requesting all manner of books from far flung branches and hogging a large section of the hold shelf on a regular basis...

I'm sure they do, Kate.

Pity, there's not a decent library anywhere near where I live, so I've ended up fattening Amazone, endlessly.... I'm sure they love me though :)

I think I am going to have to make a trip to the library for this one. It sounds like fun. When I was in high school I worked in the public library in my town and definitely favored patrons whose reading habits I liked. I won't tell you what I thought of the women who would check out an entire shopping bag of romances and return them all a week later.

I don't know if I read this book when I was a kid, but there is something verryy familiar about this book. I have some memory associated with this book's title.

My son is loving EL Konigsburg's books, so I should get it from the library for him.

Our librarians also seem to love serious readers! They always go out of their way to help me and my family no matter how much help we need to find the obscure books we want :D

And readers love good librarians! It was a school librarian who first introduced me to E. L. Konigsburg (not literally!), and we had the most wonderful librarians at the public library. They knew my sisters and me well, and made going there such a pleasant experience.

Love that quote! :) My librarians have assured me it's good to put a ridiculous number of books on hold. lol

I also request books from all over the city, and take up lots of room on the hold shelf!
I love that you are reviewing children's books. I have plans to be a children's and youth librarian, and I love reading the books aimed at them. I imagine myself, in the future, recommending books to kids.
