In Praise of Harriet the Spy

Click here to listen to a radio tribute to the central character of one my childhood favourite books, Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh. I think that I'm overdue for a reread of this one.

Oh my gosh, I loved this book beyond all imagining - and that was back in the 60's when it first came out. I'm so glad that children continued reading it and loving it :)

My girlfriend and I had Harriet notebooks we carried around writing copiously into - much to the chagrin of one other friend, who was the subject of much of our writing. Nasty little girls, weren't we?

Thanks for sharing this...

Gee, I was just thinking about Harriet the other day (wonder what kind of woman Harriet grew up to be?). Anyway, I loved that book. I'm way overdue on a reread too.

I was obsessed with this book as a child, I had it on a virtual permanent loan from the library. And I started a notebook too; I dread to think what happened to it.

Go Harriet! I loved it before, but based on this review, I think it's time to read it again.
