My Writing Spaces

Bloglily has invited her readers to post pictures of their writing spaces. Had I not just tidied my office, I might not have taken her up on that invitation. But I did, so I will. And yes, I did tidy up solely in honour of the new typewriter.

This is where I do most of my writing as well as a considerable amount of idly staring out the window.

If you twirl to the right in the mammoth desk chair (a recent acquisition which has proven exceptionally comfortable), you can catch a glimpse of the aforementioned new typewriter.

To complete the panoramic view, twirl the rest of the way around and you can see that I work comfortably flanked by bookcases which cover the remaining two walls of the room.

In the summer, I can occasionally be found writing out here, but at the moment it seems a long way off. That tree to the right is my magnolia. In a few months it should be sporting blooms that equal the loveliness of those that Bloglily is savouring in California today.

I love the way your typewriter looks on its desk -- so simple and neat.

Love the way the typewriter looks. In the last few years I've seen several typewriters on display in various museums (MOMA for example) for their designs. It always makes me laugh, because I can remember learning to type on my grandfather's old typewriter and it was a big deal when we purchased an electric one!

I want a chair like yours! Looks very comfy. The patio looks nice too, but nicer without the snow!

I was collecting typewriters for a while, so I really appreciate seeing typewriters being displayed so lovingly in a space like yours. I'm so jealous of your view and of your outdoor space! So lovely.

nice! I put up a post about my writing space, since you did. it's almost seventy degrees out today, so i think i will go outside. but since i'm new to this village - i haven't carved out a writing space outside yet. i wish we had a terrace like all the other neighbors. no wonder this apt was cheap!

That typewriter is such a thing of beauty. And the bookshelves. No wonder you're so coherent all the time, working in that serene spot.

Very nice. I love to be surrounded by books, too.

I like your snow and bare trees! Winter doesn't seem like winter here in Arizona! Love your typewriter, too. It's so romantic.

What a great space to write. And I adore your old phone - does it work?

What a great space! I wish my computer area (posting on my blog is the extent of my writing!) was so nice! Maybe if I clean things up a bit I might take a photo...

I'm so jealous! What a great view! My backyard looks out to the parking lot of Danier Leather, as well as the train tracks along St. Clair West. I bet your backyard is lovely in the spring and summer.

And that typewriter!! I want one! I had read an article about Monkey's Paw in the National Post during the Christmas holidays, but as of yet, I just don't have the extra cash to splurge. One of these days, though!

Nigel Beale just requested that writers show their workspace—these requests seem almost perennial, but your shots would be a good addition.
